The risk factors associated with the community acquired and hospital acquired MRSA are different and vary depending on the settings. Some of the risk factors of community acquired MRSA are – 1.Young age: In case of children, mrsa infection is considered very dangerous and generally spreads through a scrape or cut in the body. Since the immune systems of children is yet to be developed, mrsa infection can cause serious health problems in children affecting their whole health and even causing pneumonia. 2. Sharing of sports equipments: When persons share the equipments which can contain organisms that can come in contact with our skin like uniforms, towels, razors, balls and other equipment, CA-MRSA germs can spread easily. 3. Weak immune system: Persons whose immune system is very weak can easily acquire the mrsa infection. 4. Unsanitary conditions: When the environment in which people live is not clean then there is possibility of people living there to be affected with mrsa infection like in prisons and some training camps. 5. Health care workers: Persons who come in contact with those who work in health care offices are generally at an increased risk of getting infected with MRSA. Some of the risk factors of health care associated MRSA are usage of invasive devices, hospitalization, usage of antibiotics and long term residence in a care facility.
